Here's what the six-month checkup doesn't cover

I took my son to his well visit at six months. The pediatrician looked up from her notes and said "you can start some solid foods with him." And that was it. That was the whole conversation.

I'm a pediatric feeding therapist. I've spent 14 years teaching babies to eat. And I still walked out of that appointment feeling nervous about starting solids with my own baby.

That moment made it very clear to me how overwhelming this must feel for moms who aren't given the information they actually need to do this safely. You're handed a green light and sent home to figure it out. Most parents end up winging it, hoping for the best, and searching for answers every time something unexpected happens at the table.

You deserve better than that.

"I was surprised how confused and overwhelmed I felt all over again. The way you explained about looking at this developmentally instead of needing to try 10,000 different foods made this process feel so much more manageable and actually fun."

Here's what the course covers

01

Start where you are

Begin with the baby in front of you, not an age chart or a feeding method you think you're supposed to follow. You'll learn how to read your baby's actual skills and use the Solids Skills + Solutions Check any time you're not sure what to do next.

02

Set up a safer start

Know what actually matters for safer feeding without making yourself nervous about every single bite. Covers positioning, gagging vs. choking, food shape and texture, and how to approach allergens.

03

Follow your baby's cues

Stop second-guessing whether your baby's hungry, full, refusing, or just done. Learn how to read what your baby's telling you and find a meal rhythm that works around your actual life.

04

Build food skills one step at a time

This is where "okay we started, now what?" finally gets answered. Textures, self-feeding, spoon skills, cup drinking, and how to start serving the food your family already eats.

05

When meals feel stuck

For when your baby starts doing something unexpected and you have no idea what to do about it. Covers the most common things that throw parents off and walks you through the same process every time.

06

Make your next week feel easier

Turn what you've learned into an actual plan. Figure out what your baby should work on next, get caregivers on the same page, and know how to recognize progress even when your baby isn't eating more.

Kristi Schlessinger, pediatric SLP and feeding therapist

Hi, I'm Kristi

Kristi Schlessinger M.S., SLP-CCC / CLC

Speech-language pathologist and feeding specialist

I'm a pediatric speech-language pathologist and certified lactation counselor with 14 years of experience working with babies and toddlers in a clinical feeding setting. Starting solids is the part of my work I'm most passionate about, because I see every day what a difference it makes when parents understand what their baby's actually learning instead of just following a food list.

I built this course because the gap between what pediatricians tell you and what you actually need to know is real, and you deserve the real information.

Here's what happens when you actually know what you're doing

Is this for you?

This is for you if:

  • You're about to start solids and want to do it right the first time
  • You've already started and things aren't going the way you expected
  • You're a second or third-time mom who's somehow just as confused as the first time
  • You're tired of conflicting advice and want one clear clinical answer from someone who does this for a living
  • You know the value of getting the right help instead of spending weeks figuring it out yourself

This isn't for you if:

  • Your baby has a diagnosed feeding disorder requiring clinical treatment
  • You're looking for a recipe book or a rigid day-by-day meal plan to follow exactly

You could keep winging it. Or you could just know what you're doing.

Solids Skills + Solutions gives you everything you need to start and progress solids confidently, from first bites to family meals.

Questions you're probably asking right now

What age is this for?

Solids Skills + Solutions is designed to take you from getting ready for first foods through the first year of solids. You can start before your baby's first bite or jump in after you've already been feeding solids for a while.

What if we've already started solids?

You're not too late. A big part of this course is about what happens after the first few bites: progressing textures, self-feeding, cups, family foods, and figuring out what to do when something isn't going the way you expected.

Is this baby-led weaning?

No. And it's not anti-BLW either. This course covers purees, mashed foods, finger foods, and family foods because I'm much more interested in helping your baby build feeding skills than convincing you to follow one feeding method.

What if my baby's having significant feeding difficulties?

This course is educational and isn't a replacement for individualized feeding or medical care. If your baby's experiencing persistent difficulty eating or drinking, coughing or choking with feeding, growth or nutrition concerns, or something simply feels wrong to you, talk with your child's pediatrician or a feeding professional.

How long do I have access?

For the lifetime of the course, you can log in and access every lesson.

Do I have to watch everything in order?

No. If you're starting from the beginning I'd work through it in order. But I also designed it to be something you can come back to when a new question comes up.

Are all sales final?

Yes. Because this is a digital product with instant access to all course content, all sales are final. If you have a question before purchasing, reach out at support@feedingwithconfidence.com and I'm happy to help you decide if this is the right fit.

Imagine sitting down at every single meal knowing exactly what you're doing

And actually enjoying watching your baby figure it out. That's what this course gives you. Come get it.
